BBQ & Cauliflower Shepherd’s Pie 🥧



Comfort food alert!🚨🚨

Shepherd’s Pie is a favourite comfort meal in our home once the cooler weather arrives.
Ok, ok, we know... , the weather is getting warmer. But here in Toronto, we’re facing on spring snow. So not too late~!!
BBQ sauce and cauliflower are definitely not part of the traditional Irish dish! But when we thought about how to re-imagine this classic, these flavors came together so well we had to share it with you.

Prepare for the best Shepherd's Pie of your life.


for the Beef Filling:
•1 lb Ground Beef
•1 ea Onion (small diced)
•1/3 cup Carrots (small diced)
•1/3 cup Celery (small diced)
•1/3 cup Peas (blanched or frozen)
•1/3 cup Corns (blanched or frozen)
•1 tsp Thyme (fresh or dried)
•¾ cup KYR’s ‘Black Garlic BBQ Sauce’
•3 Tbsp Olive Oil
•Salt & Pepper for season

for the Cauliflower Puree:
•1 small head Cauliflower
•3 Tbsp Butter
•3/4 cup Heavy Cream or Whole Milk
•1 ea Bay Leaf
•Salt for season

for the Topping:
•Cheddar Cheese
•Mozzarella Cheese


for the Cauliflower Puree:
1. Chop it up roughly into small chunks. Then use a food processor, to grate into “rice.”
2. Transfer to a pan, sauté them over medium low heat in 3 Tbsp butter. Until cauliflower becomes tender and sweat, then season with salt. Without colour.
3. When the cauliflower tender enough, add 1 cup of cream or milk and a bay leaf. Simmer about 10~15 minutes, or until the cauliflower are extremely soft.
Stir occasionall to prevent scorching.
4. When the cauliflower is very soft, stirring, transfer to a metal sieves, drain all excess liquid. Remove the bay leaf.
5. Add cauliflower to a blender. Begin blending.

for the Beef Filling:
1. Put the olive oil and onion in a large skillet over medium heat, cook until the onion translucent.
2. Add the beef and cook until browned.
3. Add the carrot, celery and thyme to the beef and season with salt and pepper.
Cook, stirring, until tender,
4. Stir in the KYR’s Black Garlic BBQ Sauce with peas and corns.

for Assemble:
1. Pour the beef filling into a baking dish.
2. Sprinkling ceddar and mozzarella cheese.
3. Spread the cauliflower puree on top and sprinkling more cheese on top.
4. Bake in the oven at 400°F until heated through and lightly browned.
If needed, broil for a minute or two for more browning. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
